Why attend therapy?
Many Muslim women and mothers come to therapy feeling:
- Emotionally exhausted – running on empty, with nothing left for yourself
- Invisible or unheard – your needs always come last
- Unsure of who you are beyond your role as a mother or wife
- Isolated – especially if you live far from family and the familiar
- Weighed down by guilt whenever you consider your own needs
- Overwhelmed by responsibilities with no clear way through
- Struggling with low confidence, self-doubt, or a persistent sense of not being enough
Alongside this, you may be experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, ongoing stress, or low self-esteem. These feelings can show up as overthinking, self-doubt, irritability, or a persistent sense of heaviness.
Therapy can support you in making sense of these feelings and finding a way forward. You’re ready to put yourself back on your own priority list – without guilt.
My approach: how I work
It’s time to get the support you need, from someone who understands.
We begin by exploring what’s been happening in your life and how you’ve been coping so far. Together, we decide what feels most important to focus on. Therapy is not rushed – we work at a pace that feels safe and manageable – however we aim for noticeable changes in both short and long term.
We pay attention to your emotions and what they may be telling you about your needs. We gently explore thought patterns that may be keeping you stuck and consider alternative perspectives. We also look at your daily life – routines, habits, and responsibilities – and how small changes might bring more balance and ease.
What to expect
Free 15-minute consultation call
This is optional, and I offer this free call in case you feel undecided, to give you a chance to ask questions about counselling. This is not a therapy session. We’ll talk briefly about what’s brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and whether this feels like the right fit.
The first session
Your first session is a space to share your story, ask questions, and begin to feel comfortable. We will also start to identify what feels most important to work on together.
Ongoing sessions
Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. Between sessions, we may agree on small, manageable things to try – and we review these together the following week, without judgement. From my experience, I recommend committing to at least six weekly sessions before reviewing your progress. Many clients find they want to continue beyond that point, but there is no pressure to do so.
